2019 Mercy - Presentation Speakers Forum

John Philip Newell is honored to be the featured speaker at the 2019 Mercy~Presentation Speakers Forum. John Philip Newell, internationally acclaimed Celtic teacher from Edinburgh, is the celebrated author of Listening for the Heartbeat of God: A Celtic Spirituality. In 2011 he received the first-ever Contemplative Voices Award from the Shalem Institute in Washington DC for his work in spirituality and peacemaking. Based in Scotland where he does most of his writing John Phillip is also a co-founder of Heartbeat: a Journey Toward Earth’s Wellbeing, established to expand sacred vision, deepen spiritual practice, nurture reflective community, and enable action for change. John Philip Newell is one of the most prominent Christian teachers of spirituality in the Western world and has authored over 15 books, including Christ of the Celts, Christianity’s Struggle Praying with the Earth, A New Harmony, and his most recent visionary title The Rebirthing of God: for New Beginnings.

Forum Session Summary

Each session will include a lecture from John Philip Newell with additional time for reflection, discussion, and refreshments. Topics for each session to be announced. 

  • Session One: Friday, October 18, from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
  • Session Two: Saturday, October 19, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Session Three: Saturday, October 19, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm


$15 per session or $40 for all three sessions.

All sessions will take place at The Lantern: A Christian Life Center in St. John’s, NL. Operated by the Presentation Sisters, The Lantern fosters a calming, focused space for conferences and retreats.
