New England School of Celtic Consciousness Year II

John Philip Newell

John Philip Newell

This is the second annual gathering of the New England School of Celtic Consciousness, a place to nurture a community of shared vision and spiritual practice for transformation in our lives and world. This retreat is open to all. The teachings will focus on the central themes of Celtic Spirituality including the sacredness of the earth and the human soul. Contemplative practices will concentrate on sustainable disciplines for individual well-being and collective healing. There will be time for prayer, silence, sharing, free time in the afternoons for rest, hiking, reading, etc. and a celebration of our time together on the second evening.

We are delighted that this event will once again take place at Mercy by the Sea, Retreat and Conference Center:

167 Neck Road
Madison, CT 06643-0191

The School specifically aims to

  1. To consciously access the wisdom of our Celtic Christian inheritance.
  2. To deepen spiritual practice in relationship to this wisdom.
  3. To translate this study and practice into compassionate action.

The School of Celtic Consciousness is a three-year curriculum, and this year in New England will follow year 2’s theme, ‘The Song of the Sacred Earth’ (Eriugena, the Carmina Gadelica, and John Muir). Required Reading for this event is Listening for the Heartbeat of God and The Book of Creation.
